Sarah and John’s Colorado State Park Elopement
Sarah and John eloped in a courthouse during the pandemic. They knew what they wanted, and they didn’t want to wait. Something Alex and I can totally relate to. They were planning to have a reception once the pandemic calmed down in the fall, but they wanted to do something for just the two of them to celebrate their marriage and this new adventure called marriage.
When we first talked with Sarah and John, we originally had plans to go to Telluride for their pictures, but it ended up not working out for Sarah’s schedule. Everything works out for a reason though, and we ended up going to a state park in Colorado during the summer, and it was absolutely beautiful. Our plan was to meet them in the park an hour or two before the sun came up, so Sarah could get her hair done by the wonderful Ashley with A Vow to Artistry. Ashley is a traveling hair and makeup artist that can do hair and makeup on location. Ashley actually hiked around with us all day to touch up Sarah’s makeup, and to do a hair change mid-day. Notice in the photos how Sarah started with an updo at first, but then ended with her hair half up and half down. Super cool! After Sarah got her hair and make-up done, and both Sarah and John got dressed up in their wedding attire, we headed out towards the lake for sunrise. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much of a sunrise for their day. It was super cloudy and smoky from the nearby wildfires, so the sky didn’t give us much of a show. The morning was still incredibly beautiful though, and we did get to see the mountains off in the distance. Sarah and John spent the morning hiking around the rocky shore of the lake, enjoying each other’s company, and romping around the tall grass with their sweet dog, Billie.
