Blog post - Amber + Benny | Winter Wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park | 27th June 2022 | By Kelly

Amber + Benny | Winter Wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park

When Amber and Benny first reached out they already knew they wanted to have a winter wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park. They also had their elopement date picked, 2/22/22. The year of the 2’s! Elopement photographers everywhere were booked up for this date far in advance. We got a total of 17 inquiries alone just for the 2nd, and the 22nd. While knowing how popular the day was going to be, we knew we wanted to work with a couple that was 100% down for an adventure! Amber and Benny were all in! They told us that they wanted snow, and that they were down for anything! The couple was planning on renting a Jeep for their adventure, so we had lots of options!

The date was important to them. Amber has a thing for even numbers, and the date 2/22/22 tied into their son Kaden’s birthday, 3/2. Like true Colorado fashion, a huge snow storm rolled in that week leaving Alex and I (and dozens of other adventure elopement photographers) forced to rethink the entire plan, and make sure whatever it was that we did was going to keep everyone safe. We always tell our couples that we will always still go outside and photograph their day as long as the conditions are safe.

We ended up changing their location to Bear Lake. Bear Lake was Amber’s first pick, but when originally planning their day, Rocky Mountain National Park didn’t have any permits available for 2/22/22. When we ended up deciding to move their date a few days due to the snow, we reached out to the park service and we got so lucky! They had a permit, and these two were going to have their winter wonderland elopement up at Bear Lake. Unfortunately these two didn’t get to have their elopement experience on 2/22/22, but they still got their winter wonderland wedding day that they were dreaming of.

When we first asked this sweet couple why they were eloping, they said because they would rather spend the money on a trip vs a big wedding. We couldn’t agree more! Congratulations to the happy couple. We are so glad that you got the winter wonderland wedding that you were dreaming of!

Hi, i’m Kelly!👋I photograph small weddings & elopements for couples looking to escape traditions. Based in Grand Junction, Colorado

When you’re intentional about your wedding day, yo When you’re intentional about your wedding day, you get to decide exactly where your money goes. And when you’re inviting fewer guests (sometimes wayyyy fewer… like zero 😉), you’re only budgeting for you two: the experience, the comfort, the little “we’ll remember this forever” upgrades. That’s exactly what these two did. Heather + Andrew rented a castle on Airbnb for a long weekend which was the perfect place to retreat back to after hiking and getting married outside. And they also hired a private chef for the whole weekend so every meal felt like part of the celebration. Ceremony outside. Cozy retreat after. No rushing. No hosting. Just an intentional, peaceful, and wildly memorable wedding day experience. If you’re dreaming up a day of intention for your elopement, let’s talk. I’d love to make this happen for you. 😊 @adventurethroughfood

Thinking of eloping in Colorado this fall??? 🏔️ 🍂 Thinking of eloping in Colorado this fall??? 🏔️ 🍂 In about 7 months the mountainsides here are going to be a sea of fall foliage and it makes for some amazing wedding day photos! And guess what?? You don’t have to plan your elopement alone. 👏 Whether you’ve got the whole day mapped out or just know you want to do something different for your wedding day, I’m so glad you’re here. I work with couples who want an experience that’s meaningful, real, and grounded in the outdoors, and if that sounds like you, I’d love to connect. Tell me as much or as little as you know so far.
Then I’ll take it from there. Most couples come to me unsure about the details: no date, no location, just a feeling that they want something different. That feeling? It’s more than enough to start with. You don’t have to do this alone. I’ll help you figure out when and where makes the most sense for the kind of day you’re dreaming of and walk you through every part of what comes next. I eloped too, and I want this for you. This is what I do best. Fall is always my busiest season — and I’m starting to fill up my calendar, so if you’re dreaming of getting married in Colorado this fall with the golden aspens and mountain views, now is the time to start making some plans! Once you reach out, we’ll meet and get started right away. My speciality is helping couples just like you bring their dream elopement day to life! I can’t wait to help you have the elopement of your dreams, and take amazing photos for you 😊 🏔️ 🍂 💍 .
