Emily + Morgan’s Breckenridge Colorado Elopement
Emily and Morgan decided to have a full day Breckenridge Colorado Elopement right at the beginning of Fall. Actually, technically it was the last day of summer, but in the mountains, the aspens were turning golden yellow and that’s all that is needed to feel like fall in the Colorado mountains 🍂
We started the day with a short hike to an alpine lake in Breckenridge, Colorado. The hike offered mountain views while we walked through evergreen forests. One of the best things about this job is seeing our couple’s reaction to the scenery. Colorado is an incredibly beautiful state, and when our couples look at what’s surrounding them for the first time during their hike, it really sets the mood for the rest of the day. Emily and Morgan did not disappoint us with their stoke!
We took our time hiking up to the alpine lake, taking lots of water breaks. Once we made it to the lake, we found an open spot in the trees where we could set up the changing tent, and get these two looking their best. 😊 One of my favorite shots from every elopement, is capturing their reaction when seeing “the spot” for the first time. We took the picture below of Emily and Morgan right when we walked out of the evergreen forest, and the view opened up to the huge mountain and alpine lake we were hiking towards. It was so special.
Getting Ready
First Look
After these two put on their wedding clothes and got themselves looking real sharp, we set up the first look. We decided to do it right in front of the mountain, so you could see the mountain in the backdrop. We hiked through a little creek that fed into the lake and did their first look right in the tall grass.
Breckenridge Colorado Elopement – Ceremony & Marriage License Signing
After Emily and Morgan had their first look, they took their time walking around the lake to find their spot for their self-solemnizing elopement ceremony. With the mountain, and alpine lake in the background, combined with their handwritten vows, it’s no wonder these two cried tears of joy during their ceremony. It’s so worth mentioning that these two had this alpine lake and the hike all to themselves. We literally didn’t see another hiker all afternoon, it was incredible. We love suggesting locations to our couples that are “hidden gems”. There’s nothing more special than having a landscape like this all to yourselves for your wedding day. After their intimate, private elopement ceremony, we tucked back into the evergreens and signed their marriage license. It was official, these two are married!! 🕊
Adventure Hiking Elopement in Breckenridge, Colorado
After Emily and Morgan had their private ceremony next to the alpine lake in Breckenridge, Colorado, we headed over to a mountain pass to do some hiking, facetime their families, and enjoy the sunset. Just as private as their ceremony next to the alpine lake, our hiking adventure up the mountain pass was just as private. The only other hiker we ran into was a solo hiker and his dog. We didn’t mind the company at all 🐕 😊 When these two were envisioning their elopement, they wanted to go somewhere up high to enjoy the sunset. I’d say this location definitely delivered. As the sunset behind the mountains, these two hiked around the mountainside enjoying each other’s company. It was so wonderful. ✨ If you’re wondering what this landscape looks like covered in snow, click here.
Campfire, Stargazing, and Reading Family Letters
Once the sun went down, and the temperatures dropped, we took Emily and Morgan to a nearby campground to start a fire to keep warm, read letters from family, and roast some smores. We watched these two read handwritten letters from their family while keeping warm next to the fire, and enjoying the views of the bright stars in the sky. We watched them laugh and cry tears of joy reading the support from their best friends and closest family members. We love it so much when our couples decide to include their family and friends somehow into their elopement day. See the photos below of how these two spent their night on their wedding day. ❤️
